Heyl Town Band were competing at the 68th annual championships held at torquay on Saturday 1st November.
The band went with the ambition of retaining their Title form 2013 when they were crowned champions under the musical direction of Mr Shaun Marsden.
After working extremely hard we are pleased to announce we have been crowned 2014 champions of the 3rd section.

Champions for 2 consecutive years is a massive achievement for the band and may it continue.

Special thanks goes to our Musical Director Mr Shaun Marsden for his hard work and attention to detail with the music and performance.

Since the appointment of our musical director Shaun we have competed at 5 competitions over 18months and we have walked away with 3 wins, 2 second places and an 8th.

Thanks must also go to the secretary for her hard work preparing for this competition. Another big thankyou to our sponsors - Skys the limit scaffolding. The band are proud to be part of such a great partnership.

Topic: Good News at the SWBBA Contest in Torquay
News Item:

Yesterday we where competing in a competition at the SWBBA Contest at Torquay Riviera Centre.

We left Hayle in the early hours of the morning on our convoy of minibuses. When we arrived we had a good practise at the Rainbow Hotel which helped prepare us for playing on stage.

There was a long wait to get onto the stage but in the end it was worth it by Winning 1st place in the 3rd section and also winning the best Horn Section (Laura Matthews, Emma Marsden, Angie May and Kerry Grove).

But we have to give a big thanks to Shaun Marsden our MD for all of his hard work he has put into the band. The band has been through some rough time during the past 12 months but with Shaun's help we are growing in strength and confidence.

Keep an eye out on our website, the remarks for our performance will be online shortly.
